White Fence Is Back and They’ve Got Something to Prove
Seven years is a long time to wait, but White Fence just made it worth every second. Tim Presley is back with Orange, dropping April 24, and it sounds like he never left — except sharper, cleaner, and more alive than ever.
The first single, “Your Eyes,” kicks things off with a gut-punch snare and Tim’s warmest guitar work in years. The song builds naturally into a big, hooky chorus — the kind that lands before you even realize it’s coming. Ty Segall handled production at his Harmonizer II studio (same duo that made For the Recently Found Innocent back in 2014), and the result is a sound that’s spacious without being cold. Rock and balladry, side by side, breathing room for all of it.
Tim described Orange as being about “love/loss, addiction/rehabilitation, and a good long look in the mirror.” There’s weight here, but also a restless humor. He wanted to sing his heart out — and that’s exactly what he did.
Agathe Rousselle shot the “Your Eyes” video in striking black and white, and it suits the song’s mood perfectly: direct, a little haunted, hard to look away from.
Rounding out the album are keys from Alice Sandahl and drum appearances from Dylan Hadley, giving Orange a lived-in, full-band feel even in its quieter moments. Think 60s soul meets garage swagger — the Kinks after a few sleepless nights in San Francisco.
