Artist Mike Perry, whose art was recently featured in the group’s video for “Ivory and Blue,” will host the event and additional performers include Hints and Owen and the Eyeballs. Wondering Around Wandering will end it’s three-month residency, shutting down the 7,000 square foot art experience and inviting friends to join in closing the house down with one final night of creation and celebration. Menahan Street Band is the official house band for Brooklyn-based Dunham Records, where they notably backed soul singer Charles Bradley on his 2011 breakout debut album No Time For Dreaming. The five members have been playing together in one project or another since the early 2000s, when they were all members of The Dap-Kings.
MSB “continue to preserve soul and funk” (RollingStone.com) on the new album, recorded at all-analog recording studio Dunham Sound Studios. The Crossing takes you on a cinematic instrumental journey through a nocturnal landscape of moods and emotions, propelled by funky, hip-hop-influenced grooves and dream-like horn and keyboard melodies.
