Fire Track: Modest Mouse – “Look How Far…”

Thirty Years In And Modest Mouse Still Hit Different

Modest Mouse are back. After a five year stretch of silence, the band just dropped “Look How Far,” their first new track since The Golden Casket in 2021, and it lands exactly how you’d want it to.

Isaac Brock hasn’t softened one bit. The song’s most gut-punch moment is also its most quotable: “Look how far we’ve come / oh my god we’re so fucking dumb.” Blunt, funny, kind of devastating — that’s the Modest Mouse we know and love. Nobody does sardonic optimism quite like these guys.

The timing feels right. The band is sitting on their 30th anniversary this year, and rather than coast on nostalgia, they’re pushing forward with new material. More music is coming in 2026, so consider this your warning shot.

They’re also hitting the road hard this spring and summer across North America. We’re talking multiple nights in Seattle, a run through the Midwest, festival slots at Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, and Shaky Knees, plus stops in cities big and small. New headlining dates go on sale Friday, March 13 at 10:00am local time.
