Fire Track: King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard – “Phantom Island”

| |

Just two months after the release of their 26th album Flight b741, the ever-restless King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard release a new orchestral single, “Phantom Island,” and announce a 2025 Phantom Island orchestral tour. Featuring a different accompanying 28-piece orchestra in each city – and ably led by conductor & music director Sarah Hicks – the tour will see the group perform with some of the country’s most renowned ensembles, before concluding with Field of Vision, a 3-day residency camping event at Meadow Creek in Buena Vista, CO. This represents the band’s only U.S. tour of 2025, so don’t miss out on your fix for a full calendar year. Tickets will be on-sale this Friday at 11AM ET/8AM PT (with the exception of Chicago, which will go on sale in March), and will be available here.

Talking about “Phantom Island,” King Gizzard’s Stu Mackenzie said:

Hello world. So our last album was 10 songs. Except we recorded 20 in that session. Here’s a track from the other set of 10. It’s even more maxxed out than the last one. There’s a whole fuckin’ orchestra on there. Hahahahahah! But for real, what a joy to be alive. A privilege to be making music for a living and to be here still after all these years. If you’ve been listening to Gizz for a long time, thank you. We love you so much. If you’re just tuning in, welcome to the cult.

Love, Papa Stu xoxoxox

King Gizzard are currently underway on a massive U.S. tour, which saw them play their largest US headline show to date at The Gorge Amphitheater. The tour resumes with a 3-hour marathon set at The Kia Forum in Los Angeles this Friday, along with shows in Austin, Las Vegas, Miami, and more. Every 2024 tour stop will stream live and for free via the band’s Youtube.
