The track premiere today is from the Chicago group Raiders Of The Lost Art. Not only is their name memorable but the group mixes in samples from 8 bit Nintendo games. Yes, you heard that right. At the 3:30 mark in the track you can really hear an arcade backdrop take off and create a texture and depth to the slower flowing vocals.
What you will find here with RotLA and “Unhinged the Blessings” is an almost robotic in nature sound with its organic instruments and electronic backdrop pulses. This vibe is purposeful as the groups fourth record, Victory Saloon, tries a different approach with live drums, stand-up bass and no effects on the vocals.
This record was made in the winter for the winter but its live warmth pours out of “Unhinged the Blessings.” Victory Saloon is due out this Friday, November 6th, so if you like what you hear below make sure you visit the band’s website and order up a copy.
