Fire Drill Album Review: If you have 14 minutes then you have enough time to check out this mini 7 song album from Boston’s Free Pizza. This disjointed slightly off-kilter delivery reminds of classics from The Cleaners From Venus and Television Personalities, as the songs have a very smooth instrument flow but all the work is done up front with the vocals that have a more modern Mac DeMarco vibe. Free Pizza separate themselves some because the longest song on Berlin, DE is 2-minutes. That of course is crazy short when you read the above song description but you would be surprised how these complete compositions perfectly fit pieces and transitions into that small time frame. Berlin, DE is over before you know it but Free Pizza will stick in your head. It really is a record that I have been sitting with since May but never felt I could accurately sum up all of its tiny parts. It is ridiculous that Free Pizza can make these tidy compositions under 2-minutes but that is exactly what they accomplish here and Berlin, DE is that much better because of it. Definitely a band to keep an eye on!
