Sacred Bones always seems to find some of the most eclectic artists and Copenhagen’s Marching Church fits the bill. What once was a solo project has now developed into a band that is comprised of Iceage lead singer Elias Bender Rønnenfelt joined by Iceage bandmate Johan S. Weith (electric viola, guitar), Lower’s rhythm section of Kristian Emdal (bass) and Anton Rothstein (drums), Jakob Emil Lamdahl (trumpet) and Hand of Dust’s Bo Høyer Hansen (guitar), augmented by flute, strings and sax, and produced by Escho’s Nis Bysted.
Our track today, “Lion’s Den,” showcases the bands grinding talents as Rønnenfelt’s vocals crawl as the different instruments and sporadic noises develop, move out, move in and create an intense backdrop for this song but is also a good representation of the entire album’s vibe. Impassioned and fiery till the end!
Marching Church’s new album, Telling It Like It Is, is out next Friday, October 28th on Sacred Bones.
