Fire Drill Album Review: Around TFN we could write, write and write some more but we still wouldn’t be able to capture everything we hear that deserves a spotlight. Samuel Robertson’s Quiet Arrows is one of those records, as we have been sitting with it since last September. You may remember but we featured Quiet Arrows in our August Bandcamp feature and Year Of The Cartographer backs up that recommendation. If you enjoy the soft indie strumming of artists like Iron & Wine, Sufjan Stevens, and Bon Iver then Quiet Arrows will be a no brainer. Robertson’s Elliott Smith/Eric Matthews (Cardinal) sounding vocal is the true draw here as he carefully walks you through his eleven stories. I guarantee that Quiet Arrows is one of those artists that you can play in the background at a party and everyone will ask – who is that? Year Of The Cartographer stays in one tempo and style but its top quality sound combined with Robertson’s comforting voice will keep you coming back for another round.
